Oh, this was a fun one!
The world is constantly saturated with sad news stories and coverage about hopeless situations. So, Dan Wareing decided to step up to the plate; creating the The Not So Miserable News (NSMN for short) where in his own words: "we ridicule culture, laugh at stupid news, and drink lots of tea".
Dan came to me asking for one of the strangest logo requests I've ever recieved... a sloth claw. Yes, that's right, a sloth. The reason in his words:
"I have a real love for them, I'm sure the designer of puma was a fan of pumas... Sloths just do what they do. They aren't obsessed with how people view them. They are subtly brilliant. That's the philosophy."
And that was a good enough answer for me. After all, everyone loves a good mascot!
Drawing a perfectly circular sloth claw was the ideal goal, but it proved to be a rather challenging one in terms of perspective. After I provided Dan with various options, we moved in the direction of the grey one in the bottom left.
